Curiosity : it is a very rare oil, extremely expensive and often counterfeited.

Melissa is a perennial herb native to southern Europe, introduced to northern Europe by the Romans. The entire plant is fragrant, with a strong lemon odor.

The name lemon balm comes from the Greek word for bee, because it is irresistible to bees and has been cultivated for that purpose for centuries.

Melissa has been known and appreciated since ancient times. Theophrastus and Dioscorides wrote about melissophyllon (bee leaf) as emmenagogic, sedative and vulnerable. Avicenna recommended it as well as other Muslim and Arabic writers to treat melancholy and heart conditions.

Melissa's fame continues in France, as it was an ingredient in the Carmelite water, 'Eau de melisse des Carmes' distilled in Paris by monks from 1611. An early version of eau de cologne, the water was used as a digestive and antispasmodic and still finds a place in many French households.

Melissa oil is not common and is very expensive because 7 tons are needed to produce 1 kg of oil.

Dangers: The expense of producing lemon balm oil leads to counterfeiting, usually with citrus oils or lemongrass (also sometimes called lemon balm herb).

Frequently Asked Questions

What are essential oils and how are they used?

Essential oils are natural substances extracted from flowers, leaves, bark and other parts of plants. They can be used for inhalation, environmental diffusion, topical application (always diluted), aromatic baths or even for home and cosmetic use.

Can I apply essential oils directly to the skin?

Generally not : it is important to always dilute them in a vegetable oil or in a neutral base (cream, gel). Only a few oils, such as True Lavender or Tea Tree, can be used pure on small areas and only in specific cases.

Are essential oils safe for children or during pregnancy?

Some essential oils are also suitable for children or during pregnancy, but not all . Always check the product sheets for the indication "safe for use by children or pregnancy" or consult a qualified aromatherapist.

How do you store essential oils?

Store oils in dark, tightly closed bottles , away from heat and direct light. A cool, dry place is ideal. If stored properly, they can last up to 2-3 years , depending on the type.

Can I use essential oils on animals?

Some oils can be used carefully and in low doses on dogs and cats, but not all are suitable. Always check the product sheet for a "For animals" section or contact us for personalized advice.

What does “energy aromatherapy” mean?

Energy aromatherapy is based on the subtle action of essential oils on our energy field and chakras. Some oils promote grounding, others stimulate creativity or centering. Each plant has its own “vibrational frequency”.

Can I ingest essential oils?

Ingestion is not recommended unless under the guidance of a professional. Although some oils are edible, internal use requires precise skills and can be risky if done without proper guidance.

What do I find in your kits?

Euodia kits contain combinations of essential oils, vegetable oils, hydrolates, crystals or accessories , designed for specific objectives (relaxation, natural defenses, skin care, energetic harmony). Each kit also includes a personalized usage sheet .
