Litsea: Litsea Cubeba is the botanical name for May Chang, a tree in the Lauraceae family. The tree has whitish-yellow flowers that have a distinctive fragrance and resemble chili peppers (hence the word "cubeb"). The essential oil is extracted from the ripe, dried fruit of the Litsea Cubeba tree. Also known as "Mountain Pepper" or "Chinese Pepper," it is native to southern China, Indonesia, Java, Sumatra, and other regions of Southeast Asia. It is widely cultivated in Japan and Taiwan for commercial use, although China remains the largest producer and exporter of the oil.

Uses in diffusers: disinfectant.

Effects of the fragrance: relieves anxiety, sadness and bad mood, calms nervous agitation that leads to insomnia.

Uses in cosmetics: refreshing and energizing, ideal for acne and oily skin.

Fun fact: It keeps insects away.

Warnings and contraindications: non-toxic, non-irritating, possible sensitizer. Do not use during pregnancy, breastfeeding and under 3 years of age.
