Jojoba is a wax produced from the seeds of this shrub native to the desert areas of North America. It represents about 50% of the plant's seeds. It is a very long-lived plant, which can live up to 200 years. It tolerates drought well and enormous temperature fluctuations between day and night, even 30-40 degrees.

Description

Jojoba oil is a mixture of waxy esters, with long chains (36 to 46 carbons) and is free of triglycerides. Each molecule consists of a fatty acid and a lipo-alcohol group connected by an ester bond. 98% of the fatty acid molecules are unsaturated at the ninth carbon-carbon bond. Unrefined oil appears light yellow at room temperature with a very faint oily odor. Refined oil is colorless (clear as water) and odorless. It solidifies at temperatures below 10 °C. Rich in vitamin E and B-complex vitamins; minerals such as zinc, copper and iodine. It has a low acidity, less than 2%. It resists rancidity very well, even when subjected to heating

Jojoba oil is chemically very similar to human sebum, and is therefore widely used in cosmetics, skin care and hair care products. It has a linear, unbranched chemical structure that facilitates its penetration through the skin and sebaceous follicles, allowing for rapid absorption by the skin and complete amalgamation with the skin's sebum. It has a high affinity with the epidermis, does not contain glycerin, is non-comedogenic (does not promote the formation of so-called blackheads), and is resistant to oxidation due to its high content of antioxidant tocopherols. Jojoba oil helps maintain skin hydration, is an excellent emollient for the skin, which is nourished, smoothed, softened, preventing dryness and aridity. Ideal for treating all skin types, especially combination and oily skin. Stimulates cell regeneration processes, nourishes dry skin and balances oily skin. It gives shine and splendor, has a high moisturizing, emollient and elasticizing power.
